Acewall Scholars is excited to sponsor hands-on STEM programs.  These once-in-a-lifetime opportunities allow students to dive deeper into science and math concepts while having fun too! Our 2023 summer offering within our STEM programs is the Mad Scientist Camp.

Partnering with Ephesus SDA Church (https://ephesusrichmond.com/) and Ephesus Jr. Academy (https://www.ephesusjracademy.org/), this camp offers over 30 mind-blowing experiments. Thrilling lab explorations include: Artifical Cadavers, Rocket Launchs, Astronomy Adventures,  Roller Coaster design, circuit construction, and a host of additional labs that the kids will enjoy immensely!  Select here, for additonal camp information.

The 2023 Mad Scientist Camp is located at 3700 Midlothian Turnpike Richmond, VA. The cost is $150/wk (Financial assistance is also available).  A lack of financial resources should never be a barrier to learning.  Acewall Scholars is committed to our communities within central Virginia and we are actively looking to expand this scope. We are dedicated to making sure “No Child is Left Behind” making it a priority that barriers such as a lack of financial resources and/or nutrition do not keep our children from actualizing their goals. Through fundraising and Acewall Scholars’ reinvestments into our STEM programs, 94% of our campers from our 2022 camp cycle were able to receive financial assistance to attend. Inclusivity is important, so our programs actively recruit students from various social-economic backgrounds. Exposure to all walks of life is important for well-rounded youth.

We have partnered with the J. Sargeant Reynolds STEM department for our Mad Scientist Camp. They opened the doors to their Makers Space (https://www.reynolds.edu/makerspace/) to dive into the world of engineering. Special thanks to Dean Raymond Burton for offering our campers this opportunity. Our STEM Program has the following initiatives:

  • To educate students on STEM-related topics

  • To connect the classroom objectives to their real-world application by providing students with hands-on activities within STEM-related topics

  • Provide participants with a pathway to achieving training and degrees within STEM-related fields

  • Aide in Bridging the gap between under-represented communities within STEM and the attainment of STEM employment
